The Garden Company Team
Working closely with our MD and Principal Designer James Scott are two senior managers: Alex Haerle, who designs and manages landscaping projects and Joanna Mège, who is responsible for small works, planting and maintenance. We have two more office-based people and the remainder of the Garden Company team are building and maintaining gardens every day. We employ around 20 people at any one time. In addition, we have a trusted circle of associates to draw upon as required.
James Scott MSGD
Managing Director and Principal Designer
James has won numerous awards for the Garden Company’s design and delivery of beautiful gardens throughout Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Middlesex and North London. Overseeing all work produced by his design team and with overall responsibility for the Garden Company business, James is a fully Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers. This is the only body representing professional garden designers in the UK. Since 2013 James has served on Council for the SGD. James first developed his love of plants and their place in the greater landscape growing up in the Cotswolds where he spent many happy hours with his grandparents, keen gardeners of their one-acre garden in the Slad valley. James studied at Merrist Wood College in Surrey where he was awarded the accolade of ‘Best Design Student’. ‘Personally, I think the best part of my role is to work closely with nature, collaborate with many talented people and deliver high-quality, beautiful gardens. It is possible in this industry to make a significant positive difference to peoples’ lives and that is a real privilege’.
Alex Haerle BSc
Designer and Landscape Manager
Alex is an award winning garden designer who joined The Garden Company team in 2012. He studied at Writtle College in Chelmsford, obtaining a BSc in Landscape & Garden design. After graduating, Alex worked as a garden designer and landscape manager for Frosts Landscapes, gaining 8 years’ experience in design and overseeing the construction of numerous gardens. Alex has a creative and resourceful style backed by a depth of practical knowledge which he applies to ensure the highest level of service to our clients.
Joanna Mège MSc
Maintenance and Small Works Manager
Joanna joined the Garden Company in 2014, bringing with her over 10 years’ experience of managing high quality gardens in the UK, prior to which she studied and worked in Poland. With a Masters degree in Horticulture, she has a real passion for plants and gardens. Joanna’s role is to manage the Garden Company maintenance services in nurturing and caring for gardens or grounds so that they fulfil their potential all year round. In addition, Joanna manages ‘small works’ landscaping and maintenance projects for clients.
