We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our small, friendly office-based team and ensure our financial records remain accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations. The hours are flexible, either 2-3 days/week or 5 days/week during school hours.
What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll be managing day-to-day financial transactions and providing important updates on our financial performance. This will include:
- Recording all financial transactions (sales, purchases, payments, receipts)
- Reconciling bank and credit card statements monthly
- Maintaining accurate records for accounts payable and receivable
- Managing payroll and ensuring accurate tax and wage payments
- Producing sales invoices, following up on overdue accounts
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Providing general admin support to the Managing Director
- Managing CIS Contractors and carrying out monthly CIS returns
- Managing VAT returns
- Liaising with our accountants when they are producing our year-end accounts
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping software (QuickBooks preferred)
- Understanding of basic accounting, payroll, and tax requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
- Proactive approach to resolving issues and finding solutions
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – including dealing professionally with clients and potential clients
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- A full UK driving licence
