Bookkeeper (part-time)

We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our small, friendly office-based team and ensure our financial records remain accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations. The hours are flexible, either 2-3 days/week or 5 days/week during school hours.

What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll be managing day-to-day financial transactions and providing important updates on our financial performance. This will include:

  • Recording all financial transactions (sales, purchases, payments, receipts)
  • Reconciling bank and credit card statements monthly
  • Maintaining accurate records for accounts payable and receivable
  • Managing payroll and ensuring accurate tax and wage payments
  • Producing sales invoices, following up on overdue accounts
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations
  • Providing general admin support to the Managing Director
  • Managing CIS Contractors and carrying out monthly CIS returns
  • Managing VAT returns
  • Liaising with our accountants when they are producing our year-end accounts

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping software (QuickBooks preferred)
  • Understanding of basic accounting, payroll, and tax requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues and finding solutions
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – including dealing professionally with clients and potential clients
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • A full UK driving licence
